The RU-DA4D is part of the group of RACK-UP products from Radio Design Labs. RACK-UPs feature the advanced circuitry for which RDL products are known, combined with accessible user-friendly controls and displays. The ultra compact design permits high density installations, with three products mounted in a single rack unit! Single RACK-UPs can be mounted right where they are needed using the adhesive method popularized by RDLs STICK-ON series of products. Optional brackets permit mounting a RACK-UP module above, below, or in front of any flat surface!
APPLICATION: The RU-DA4D is the ideal choice in applications where line level signals need to be distributed. All connections are made using full-size barrier block terminals on the rear panel.
The RU-DA4D has two separate line level inputs. Each input permits the connection of either balanced or unbalanced, high or low impedance audio lines.
When a stereo source is used, each channel is connected to an individual input. In this configuration, the RU-DA4D provides four isolated outputs from each of the two (left and right) inputs. When a monaural source is used, a total of eight outputs can be fed simultaneously. A jumper may be placed between the two rear-panel terminals which feed the audio source signal connected to the channel A input, to all of the channel B outputs, as well as to the normal channel A outputs.
Each of the outputs is provided with a front-panel screwdriver gain control. Relative to the input level, this gain potentiometer allows an adjustment ranging from -15 dB to +18 dB gain. Each of the outputs drive balanced audio lines, and may be unbalanced if required. A convenient write-on label area is provided to identify the feed controlled by each output level control.
Audio `presence' is indicated by an LED indicator. An indicator is provided for each channel. Whenever an audio signal is present for the given channel input, the indicator lights.
Wherever an audio distribution amplifier is needed to provide superior audio clarity, user adjustments, reliability, compactness and unsurpassed versatility, the RU-DA4D is the choice. The RU-MX4L is the ideal choice in many applications where a combination of balanced and/or unbalanced line-level signals needs to be mixed. Balanced connections use XLR connectors. Unbalanced signals are coupled through phono jacks. Each of the four RU-MX4L inputs can accept either a balanced XLR line-level input or an unbalanced line-level phono jack input. The unbalanced phono jack LINE OUTPUT from one RU-MX4L may connect to the unbalanced input of other equipment, or may be connected to the DIRECT input of another RU-MX4L or an RU-MX4 to expand mixing capabilities. Up to 3 RU-MX4 type mixers may be rack mounted in a single rack unit using an RDL RU-RA3HD rack adapter. The RU-MX4L provides one balanced output, switchable for mic or line level. Audio levels are adjustable on the front panel. Each input channel is equipped with a front-panel dual-LED VU meter that follows standard VU ballistics. The final mix is displayed on an LED string VU meter featuring a visually comfortable arc motion.

Four of the RU-MX5 channels can accept either mic or line level inputs. The fifth channel is for line level input only . Mic inputs are designed for low-impedance balanced microphones, though high-impedance unbalanced mics can be connected as well. A rear-panel jumper can selectively connect an internally-generated 24 Vdc phantom voltage to any, or all, of the mic inputs. All line-level inputs permit the connection of either balanced or unbalanced, high or low impedance, audio lines.
A separate unbalanced `MIX' input allows an external audio source to be summed directly into the mix amplifier, bypassing the front-panel level controls. This feature can be used to cascade multiple mixers to expand system capabilities.
The RU-MX5 provides two balanced outputs, one at mic level and the other at line level. Either of these outputs may be unbalanced if required. Both outputs may be used at the same time.
Audio levels are adjustable on the front panel. A convenient write-on label area is provided above each fader knob.
Output level metering is provided by three LED indicators. Audio `presence' is indicated by the -20 dB indicator. 0 dB shows usual audio levels, and a +5 dB LED displays audio peaks. The metering section is peak-reading and refers 0 dB to a balanced audio output of +4 dBu.

The RU-SH1 is used in applications requiring headphones of any impedance to be driven from consumer or professional audio sources. The module mounts in RACK-UP series rack mounts or in various RDL® mounting accessories. The RU-SH1 is a dual channel headphone amplifier with balanced/unbalanced left and right inputs. Each input accepts operating levels between -20 dBV and +20 dBu. Two recessed slide switches located on the top of the rear enclosure are set prior to mounting the module. One switch is provided for setting the input sensitivity. The mode switch selects between stereo and mono operation. In the mono position, the left input is used to drive both output channels. When the module is used in a monaural system, only the left channel input must be wired. The front panel level control is a long-life potentiometer controlling matched VCAs. Audio does not pass through this control, assuring years of noise-free level adjustment. The output amplifiers deliver more than 50 mW into either high or low impedance headphones through a durable, metal ¼” (6.3 mm) standard headphone jack. Module operation is from a 24 Vdc ground-referenced power supply. It can also operate from a 12 Vdc supply with a 6 dB reduction in headroom and a maximum output power of 10 mW.

APPLICATION: The RU-SQ6A is the ideal choice in installations where sequential ON and sequential OFF functions are desired. Control and output connections are made on the rear panel through clearly identified detachable terminal blocks.

Two types of outputs are provided for each of the 6 sequential steps. One type is an open collector capable of switching loads of 50mA. The other type is an SPST dry contact closure which may be used to control a variety of equipment. A single-turn front-panel TIMING INTERVAL control adjusts the time delay between channels from 1 to 10 seconds. Front-panel LEDs show when each output channel turns on and off. An internal microcontroller insures reliable, accurate timing.

The up or down sequence is user-controlled by a front-panel pushbutton switch unless the module is set for remote operation. A rear-panel switch set by the installer selects either front-panel or remote control activation. LEDs indicate whether the front-panel SEQUENCE CONTROL switch or the remote terminals are active. Grounding the rear-panel ACTIVATE terminals or turning on the front-panel SEQUENCE CONTROL switch causes an UP REQUEST that starts the RU SQ6A outputs to turn on sequentially. The outputs remain active until the UP REQUEST is cancelled by turning off the front-panel or remote control switch, causing the outputs to turn off in reverse sequence. If the ACTIVATE terminal is permanently grounded with the module set for remote control, the RU-SQ6A outputs will turn on sequentially when power is applied to the module; all outputs will turn off simultaneously when power is removed from the RU-SQ6A. The UP REQUEST LED is illuminated when an UP sequence is requested. When the sequence is complete, the COMPLETE LED indicates the Sure-Lok™ supervisory circuit is actively latching the outputs active until the user de-activates the sequence.

APPLICATION: The RU-SX4A is the ideal choice in many installations where either local and/or remote audio source selection is desired. Input and output connections are made on the rear panel through full size, clearly identified, barrier block terminals. Each RU-SX4A may connect directly to RDL's wall-mount RCS4 remote control. In stereo applications, a second RU-SX4A may be wired as a "slave".
The RU-SX4A features 4 balanced line-level inputs. Each input may be wired balanced or unbalanced. High-impedance bridging inputs allow connection from either high or low impedance sources. The line-level, low-impedance output may be wired to drive either a balanced or unbalanced line. Individual multi-turn level trimmers are provided on the front panel for each input.
Audio switching in the RU-SX4A is solid-state for optimum reliability and long term, noise free performance. No mechanical switching is used in the audio path. The RU-SX4A powers up in the OFF position (no audio input selected). A front panel push-button selects the desired audio source. Remote push-button terminals are available on the rear. Each time the button is pushed, the RU-SX4A advances to the next audio source. A 1/2 second audio-on delay prevents annoying bursts of audio while stepping through audio inputs. Each selected source provides an open-collector output on the rear panel used for remote source indication, to control a second RU-SX4A as a stereo slave, or to skip any unused inputs if fewer than 4 sources are being used. An LED shows the selected source on the front panel. Each input has a write-on label area for identification of the source.
The RU-SX4A is the ideal choice wherever 1, 2, 3 or 4 audio inputs need to be switched into a single output locally or by remote control. Use the RU-SX4A individually, or combine it with other RDL RACK-UP or STICK-ON products as part of a complete audio/video system.

Each of the outputs are provided with a front-panel screwdriver gain control. Relative to the input level, this gain potentiometer allows an adjustment ranging from 15 dB loss to 18 dB gain. Each of the outputs drive balanced audio lines, and may be unbalanced if required.

APPLICATION: The RU-VDA4 is the ideal choice in most applications where video signals need to be distributed. Video input and output connections are made on the front panel jacks. Power connections are made using full-size barrier block terminals on the rear panel.
The RU-VDA4 has two jacks in the input stage. One jack is for the input signal; the other is a `loop through' output of the source signal. The input stage is bridging. If 75 ohm termination of the input signal is required, the supplied termination is plugged onto the `Loop Out' jack.
Gain is user adjustable from the front panel. The gain potentiometer allows adjustment from -1 dB to +7 dB.
Four source-terminated outputs are provided through the output jacks. Unused outputs need not be terminated. A convenient write-on label area is provided to identify the feed from each output jack.
A unique feature of the RU-VDA4 is the 1 V Video LED indicator. While not intended as precision test equipment, this indicator can prove very helpful in field and remote location setups. The indicator is off when the video signal drops below 1 V p-p, and comes on when the signal just achieves 1 V.
Wherever a video distribution amplifier is needed to provide wide band video feeds, gain adjustment, reliability, compactness and unsurpassed versatility, the RU-VDA4 is the choice.
