APPLICATION: The ST-NG1 is the ideal choice where random white or pink noise is needed. It is suitable either as a reference noise source for audio measurements or as a masking noise source in engineered sound or counter-intelligence applications.
Amplitude limiting circuitry in the ST-NG1 controls extreme peak excursions while preserving random variations of at least 20 dB. The noise generating circuitry in the ST-NG1 is truly random analog noise occupying the full bandwidth from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. This makes the ST-NG1 ideal in masking environments where secure, random noise is required. Unlike the typical digitally generated pseudo-random noise generators which can be decoded and removed by effective intelligence equipment, the ST-NG1 produces no repetitive frequency or amplitude pattern.
Four outputs are available on the ST-NG1. Both a mic level and line level output are provided from each noise source. A 25-turn gain trimming potentiometer is provided for the white noise. A separate 25-turn gain trimming potentiometer is provided to set the pink noise level, independent of the white noise setting. The gain trim for each noise source adjusts both the line and mic output for that source. Each output is balanced low-impedance, and may be wired either balanced or unbalanced. All outputs may be used simultaneously.
Wherever white or pink noise signals are needed, the ST-NG1 is the ideal choice. Use the ST-NG1 individually, or combine it with other RDL Rack-Up® or STICK-ON products as part of a complete audio/video system.

APPLICATION: Each of the ST-OSC2 products is a Dual Audio Oscillator in the group of "STICK-ON" series products by Radio Design Labs. These products are designed for quick, convenient installation, and reliable operation in a variety of audio applications.
TWO MODELS TO FIT SPECIFIC APPLICATIONS:
ST-OSC2A: This module is designed to provide separate left and right audio signals for each of two frequencies: 1 kHz and 10 kHz. This module is well suited to audio installations requiring reference tones for level calibration and frequency response checks.
ST-OSC2B: This module is designed to provide separate left and right audio signals for each of two frequencies: 100 Hz and 400 Hz. This module may be used in conjunction with the ST-OSC2A to provide a complete set of frequency response test tones ( 100, 400, 1 kHz, 10 kHz ), or in systems where 400 Hz is used as the reference tone frequency.

The second output is intended to drive 600 ohm transformers, typically on equipment inputs. This makes the ST-PA2 uniquely suited for applications such as music-on-hold inputs on telephone systems which may have either 8 ohm or 600 ohm inputs. If desired, both outputs may be used at the same time.

APPLICATION: The ST-PA6 features two balanced audio inputs...a gain control...and an 8 Ohm output. The output is designed to deliver a clean 6 Watts RMS signal into an 8 Ohm speaker. Each input is a balanced bridge, with the two inputs mixed equally. This is particularly useful for monitoring a stereo line. The output stage features protection against short-circuits and thermal overload. The output protection automatically resets once the condition is removed, making fuse protection unnecessary!
The compact design and low cost of the ST-PA6 allow using it to individually drive each speaker in many installations. Since most applications using low speaker power levels are running music at a "background" level, speaker inefficiencies tend to produce a "thin" sound lacking in low frequencies. The traditional approach to correct this, if at all, has been to cut the high frequency response producing an apparent increase in bass. The ST-PA6 now offers actual equalization...permitting the installer to set the low frequency boost, rather than a high-frequency cut. As reproduction quality has improved, listeners have become more sophisticated...and crisp, high-frequency response is expected in a quality sound system. With the ST-PA6, this flexibility is now available for the cost of a typical "utility" amplifier!

APPLICATION: The ST-PD5U is the ideal choice where power distribution from a current-limited switching power supply is needed. It is suitable for powering up to five modules from a single power supply. The current limiting circuitry in many switching power supplies will cause the supply to shut down upon power-up when a high current capacitive load is connected. Upon application of power, the ST-PD5U ramps the voltage up, charging any load capacitance as quickly as possible, then switching full voltage to the load. If reverse polarity is connected to the input, the ST-PD5U disconnects the load until the condition is corrected. In system design, various modules are frequently operated from a single power supply. Good engineering practice requires that the power wiring to each module originate at the power supply output. The ST-PD5U serves as the power source for each of five modules. A single ST-PD5U can provide power to RDLs floating modules. A separate ST-PD5U can provide power to ground referenced modules. (Do not attempt to intermix floating and ground referenced modules from a single ST-PD5U.) Note: If using a linear power supply, distribute the voltage to multiple modules using an RDL ST-PD5. Wherever power distribution from a switching power supply is needed, the ST-PD5U is the ideal choice. Use the ST-PD5U combined with other RDL RACK-UP®, STICK-ON, or TX series products as part of a complete audio/video system.

APPLICATION: The ST-SH2 is used in applications requiring headphones of any impedance to be driven from consumer or professional audio sources. For fixed level installations not requiring user volume control, the ST-SH2 is wired to the audio source and to a headphone jack. Frequently, it is desirable to mount a volume knob by the headphone jack. The LEVEL ADJUST terminals (L) and (R) may be wired to the respective wipers of a stereo 10 kOhm potentiometer to provide volume adjustment. It is recommended that the ST-SH2 be located less than 39 in. (1m) from the jack and volume control.
The exceptional low noise (better than 100 dB below operating level), low distortion, audio clarity and excellent crosstalk performance makes this module ideally suited to a wide variety of demanding audio applications. Use this module in conjunction with other RDL modules as part of a high quality, flexible audio/video system.
